Quick Shots: Tanqueray Canned Gin and Tonic

For those of you who may not know, my day job is in the hospitality industry. I have watched dumbfounded for the last two years or so as first White Claw and then almost every beverage producer has released some variety of hard seltzer. The popularity of hard seltzers has given rise to a previously fairly small part of the market referred to as “Ready to Drink”. In the past read to drink brands have tended to be smaller, lesser known outfits (Cutwater being one of the largest I’m aware of), but that has started to change. Several large famous distilleries have entered into the fray and one of the most recent of these is Tanqueray with their new line of ready to drink cans.

Now that’s some lovely coloring, the tasteful raised lettering, it even has a watermark

Short Answer

Absolutely brilliant. One of my new favorites drinks to keep stocked in my fridge 10/10

Long Answer

I was really pleasantly surprised at how good these taste straight out of the can. Tanqueray isn’t my favorite gin, heck it’s not even my favorite “mainstream” gin, but these cans are just delicious. Although you can pour them over ice and add lime if you like, it really isn’t necessary. I’ve shared them with the few gin drinkers I know, and all of them have been impressed. Although not actually part of how they taste, I also really love the look of these cans, the finish/printing is different from anything I’ve seen and makes the cans just feel cooler. One of the reasons I was so excited to try these is, I don’t really drink beer so drinking at parties (remember parties?) has always involved a bit of logistics. Now, instead of bringing a bottle of gin, AND a bottle (or bottles) of tonic, AND limes or lime juice, I can just bring a couple packs of these cans and be good to go. I think my biggest criticism for these would be that they should come in six packs instead of fours.

Conclusion: White Claw for men. 10/10 will keep stacked deep in my fridge.
