I really, really, hate it when I hear or see someone say that. Not dislike, literal hatred.
I’m no lawyer (nor do I ply one on TV), but even I can see that being quoted as saying “I wish someone would give me a reason to kill them” is a bad idea. It’s hard to imagine getting acquitted of murder when you told people you were looking for a reason to kill them! Now imagine that ‘them’ is actually everyone around you. That is what saying “I wish a MF’er would” is doing. You’re broadcasting to everyone within earshot that you’re trying to find a reason to kill someone.
That’s not self-defense, that’s murder. Premeditated murder.
I personally hope a MF’er doesn’t. Please, don’t try. It will only end up badly for everyone involved.
If that’s too complicated, let me put it to you this way:
HOW YOU SEE YOU-

HOW WE ALL SEE YOU-

HOW A PROSECUTOR SEES YOU-

Don’t be dumb. See you next Friday

Does this also include “fuck around and find out”?

Yeah…I’m guilty of this one at times. But I’m usually being sarcastic about it.
Another perennial favorite of mine is “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.” But no feel like my coworkers in the civilian world don’t appreciate that one nearly as much as when I was in the military.
They also worry about how much I refer to things I don’t like as “communism”
Oh well.
