What’s the Best CLP?

I have a confession to make. For a long time I’ve told people “All gun lubes do 99% the job as all the others”, and I was wrong. I’m also not a fan of CLPs as I’d rather have multiple products that do their job well instead of one product that kind of does it’s job mediocre. I was wrong.

Project Farm on YouTube is a wonderful little channel. He tests all manner of consumer goods and consumables, so when he put out a test video on CLP I of course had to watch. Everyone reading this really needs to go through his video library, but that’s it why I’m writing. I’m writing this because he changed my mind on CLPs as a whole. Take a few minutes and watch this.

I’m going to order some Clenzoil, brb.

  1. Lube is like opinions, everyone has their own… based on coaching a shooting team for the past 10 years with each athlete firing 7500 rounds annually, Lucas Oil and the Weapon Shield products have been outstanding. Centerfire handguns get SlideGlide for temps over 70 degrees. All lube is weather dependent. Minus 40 in Fairbanks AK requires dry lube, 95 above in Central FL and SlideGlide Heavy is great. Rimfires generally need dry lube or light oil. AR BCGs light oil plus cam pin grease depending on temp. The team has gone thru close to 1,000,000 rounds of 9×19 and 22LR in the past 10 years using oil/grease/solvent from Weapon Shield, Lucas Oil and SlideGlide and it all works fine when you keep the guns lubed. We only clean every 2500 rounds so the lube has to work.
