It’s pumpkin season again, and I cannot help myself. I don’t swing by Trader Joe’s very often (JosephsBrau is their in-house brewery), but the last time I did I noticed this pumpkin ale and couldn’t resist. I have no regrets.
This beer is 7% ABV, has 24 IBU, and its color I’d put in the 9-12 SRM range. Its a little darker than most beers, but still lighter than the stouts. It has a nice, deep golden color. In terms of flavor, it really does taste like pumpkin. It has a bit of sweetness to it, too. Not real bitter, either. There may be a hint of pumpkin pie spice in there, but I don’t have the palette to tease it out.
4/5. If you’re a pumpkin head like me, you’ll probably enjoy it. If not, I don’t know if it’s charms will be as appreciated.
