Sunshine’s Goals for 2021 // Beginning

Okay, let’s see if we can’t do better than last year. That shouldn’t be too hard, considering I completed 2 of the 8 goals of 2020. Let’s see if we can pump those numbers up.

#1: Read a Book a Month, Every Month

Trying this one again. No reason I didn’t get it done last year besides my own laziness, so I’m going to try to be more disciplined with it this time. Discipline equals freedom, after all. I’ve already got a small stack of books piling up from the last few months, so the road ahead of me is clear.

Follow along with my progress on my Library page.

#2: Take a Pistol Class

I’m in a much better position to take training classes this year than in years’ past, so this should be easier to accomplish. Disregarding the ammo situation, that is. Ammunition availability is an ongoing issue with no signs of clearing up soon. We’ll just have to see where we land.

I have the option of taking more than just a pistol class, but pistols are what I carry everyday and are what I’m overwhelmingly likely to use in extremis. Given those facts, a pistol class is where I really need to start.

#3: Pay Off Half my Credit Card Debt

A more manageable goal than 2020’s “All CC Debt” goal. I’m not going to divulge too much personal info here on this blog, but this is my actual list of goals and this needs to be included. It’s hard to train or prep when all your income goes to interest payments.

#4: Finish House Preps

I haven’t talked about my house prepping series in a while, but I haven’t forgotten about it. Well, maybe slipped my mind a little but that doesn’t make it any less important. In fact, I’d say that prepping has become more important than ever! Riots in the streets, lockdowns, civil unrest, its getting crazy out there.

Unlike last year, I’m actively planning putting money towards these preps. A little from each paycheck can quickly build up.

#5: Publish 50 or More Posts in 2021

I kinda fell off the wagon in 2020. Since I started in 2018, I averaged more than one a week. In November and December of 2020, I only posted 4 times. I hearby resolve to post at least once a week, every week, with 2 weeks’ vacation.

Conclusion

I was a little overzealous with my goals last year. I will say though, I am better off than if I had not set any goals at all. There were multiple moments where I had some free time and decided to work on one of them instead of just vegging out on the couch watching Netflix. I’m hoping that I can do that a little more this year and complete more than 25% of my list this time.

Stay motivated, and I’ll see you next Friday.
