Overwatch Precision Poly-D.A.T. Trigger

This is a guest post from Ozone. He’s a frequent range partner of mine and has also accompanied me on my Twilight Run‘N Guns and Desert Brutality. This is his first post on this blog, but not the last. If you want to see some of his match footage, here’s a link to his YouTube channel. If you like his writing, let him know in the comments. -S_S

The PolyDAT’s compatibility is clearly marked on the packaging.

I started the build process getting the slide milled for a MRDS [Editor’s note: Stay tuned!]. It revolutionized the way I feel about pistol shooting. However probably the most beneficial and possibly disastrous modification to be made to any firearm remained unchanged. So I left the trigger alone choosing to rock the factory Glock trigger. The Glock has three safety features that are passive and they all are deactivated by the trigger and trigger bar. Since the Glock 19 is my EDC the majority of the time (supplemented by the 43), I didn’t want to render any safeties inactive with any modification. Enter Overwatch Precision.

Notably absent: the number of world wars this trigger has won.

Overwatch Precision’s PolyDAT trigger maintains all factory safeties, unlike some aftermarket triggers. The packaging boasts three features. 1.Improved trigger control 2. Shortened pre-travel 3. Maintaining factory safeties.

The trigger is differs from some of their other triggers by being made of polymer. The DAT, TAC and FLAX triggers are all made of aluminum. Polymer doesn’t bother me even though it didn’t win two world wars. The difference in material correlates to a more budget friendly option coming in at $53.99 the other triggers are $135.00 per their website.

The PolyDAT has a flat-faced trigger shoe.

The function and craftsmanship are flawless. The flat face was new to me but quickly showed its merit over its curved brethren. The drop-in install took less than five minutes using only a punch. The trigger does not decrease the pull weight but it does make for a cleaner break and removed the “spongy” feeling that most complain about when they first pick up any stock Glock. The reset may be a little quicker but in all honestly feels about the same as the stock trigger. The real improvement comes from the reduced take up and cleaner break. Continues testing at the range and matches will provide more data in the upcoming weeks. So far it is a recommend and great value. Inserted below is a video of stock travel and reset compared to the overwatch poly DAT.

PS. Once a gun is cleared manipulating the slide like this for video purposes isn’t a safety issue. Eat my shorts internet RSOs.

[Editor’s note 10-15-2019, Ozone purchased another PolyDAT for his Glock 43. That should tell you his true opinion of the product!]
