Simple Tastes

I’m a man of simple tastes, and I don’t change things without reason. That watch has lived on my arm for about 5 or 6 years. I’ve spent more money on replacing worn out straps than I did on the watch itself.

That gun has been my EDC since January of 2014. Not that model, but that specific gun. That holster has been holding that gun for almost as long. The light has actually been around longer than the gun. It’s been with me about as long as the light.

I like figuring out something that works, optimizing it, and not screwing it up.

That being said, the holster needs replacing. It’s had small cracks for a while, but it recently became unacceptable.

Now that the holster replacement has been cleared, the light can be looked into. The APL was great when it came out and was competitive at the time my current holster was bought, but between then and now we have seen unprecedented growth in weapon light tech. At this point, not improving my light would be a mistake. The replacement has actually already been purchased (fellow forum member was dumping one of my options for a song).

Finally, and most importantly, the gun. I’ve got something interesting in mind for it, but one that I don’t want to commit to just yet.

See you next Friday.

  1. I’m still carrying a Comp-Tac Minotaur holster that I’ve had for NINE years now. It’s superb. Initially I rocked a G26 before going to a G19, and I’m actually still using the G26 shell.
Alas, I wish I had bought two since they don’t make them anymore.
At the time, they were the only company I was aware of that was making kydex/leather hybrid holsters. But having seen and fondled a few Alienware’s… I’d probably go with them IF this one ever becomes unusable. Right now, I think I’ve got another nine years left in it…
